Amy Poehler was born on September 16, 1971 in Burlington, Massachusetts. She graduated at the Boston College in 1993 and became one of the key members in My Mother’s Fleabag, America’s oldest improvised comedy group. After graduation, Amy Poehler moved to Chicago and studied at Second City, and afterwards she joined the comedy group Upright Citizen’s Brigade in 1996. She also took on the role of Stacy, Andy Richter’s little sister on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
When her group Upright Citizen’s Brigade relocated to New York, they were able to bag their own sketch comedy series which lasted for three seasons at the Comedy Central. By then, Amy Poehler has finished her film debut entitle Tomorrow Night, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Amy Poehler also became a regular face on television, starting with a guest appearance in the sitcom Spin City which starred Michael J. Fox.
