Parks and Recreation Heading to Washington, D.C.?

If you saw Parks and Recreation’s emotional finale (we hiccup-cried!), you know that adorable lovebirds Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) are splitting up.

Wait, what? OK, their romance is stronger than ever, but Ben technically is splitting—he’s moving to Washington, D.C. to run a congressional campaign while Councilwoman Leslie Knope runs Pawnee.

So how will the power couple handle their separation? We’ve got the scoop from Amy and Adam—and how they celebrated the P.Rex renewal.

“He’s got to go—she can’t hold him back!” Amy insisted when we pleaded for Ben to stay.

But imagine how much fun government fangirl Leslie will have visiting her BF in the nation’s capital! Amy hints that we’ll see Leslie in D.C., though it hasn’t been decided yet where they would technically shoot those scenes.

“I don’t know [if we'll shoot on location], but just the idea of us being in that big arena [in Washington D.C.]—all of us knuckleheads—that would be pretty funny.”

“I want to see Ron Swanson at the Smithsonian,” Adam added.

Who doesn’t? The only thing better would be seeing the Libertarian in the Capitol building itself. (They serve steak and eggs in the cafeteria, right?)

Up All Night—starring Amy’s hubby Will Arnett—was also renewed, so we asked whether they supersized their celebration.

“Yeah we actually had a party last night, at our house,” Amy revealed, adding, “I did invite Adam, but he couldn’t make it he went to like a cooler party or something.”

“Yeah,” joked Adam. “I went to Dane Cook’s party.”

Amy Poehler To Star In Film “They Came Together”

Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd might be campaigning against each other on “Parks and Recreation” (season finale tonight, y’all!), but they’ll stop mudslinging for “They Came Together,” a rom-com parody from director David Wain.

Per Variety, “They Came Together” will find Rudd and Poehler initially at odds because he plays a corporate shark threatening to shutdown her character’s “quirky knick-knack store.” In the grand tradition of “You’ve Got Mail,” the differences will become what binds them together as a couple.

Wain and Michael Showalter (“Wet Hot American Summer”) co-wrote the script, which is said to take down many cliched rom-com tropes. If Showalter being involved in a rom-com parody sounds familiar, that’s because you remember his crazy underrated 2005 comedy “The Baxter,” which co-starred Wain and featured a cameo appearance from Rudd.

Following the big election on the “Parks and Recreation” season finale, Rudd has a slew of projects lined up. He’ll star in “This Is 40″ and “Perks of Being a Wallflower” this year, and is set to feature opposite Tina Fey in “Admission.” He’s also got “Anchorman 2″ on his schedule as well.

So, for those keeping score at home, Rudd has appeared (or will appear) in movies starring Fey, Poehler, Jennifer Aniston (“Wanderlust”) and Christina Applegate. At the rate he’s running through past and current NBC leading ladies, expect him to lead a comedy with Maya Rudolph and/or Alison Brie in the near future. Or at least Courteney Cox.

NBC Poised to Renew Community, 30 Rock and Parks and Rec – But There’s a Catch

NBC is looking to bring back its Thursday night comedy block — with some caveats.

The Peacock network is nearing a deal that would see 30 Rock return for a seventh and final season of 13 or 14 episodes, per our sister site Deadline.

Last month, Rock‘s creator and star Tina Fey told the ladies of The View that the end was “visible on the horizon… We can’t do this for 35 years.”

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Community and Parks and Recreation are also expected to be picked up for an abbreviated fourth and fifth season, respectively.

A ‘Parks & Rec’ Proposal?

Could a Pawnee proposal be in the cards for Parks and Recreation’s finale?

All season long, fans have watched as Ben and Leslie fought against the odds to get her elected to city council — and with every triumph further cementing their adorable relationship, I was curious if the May 10 finale would see Ben get down on one knee. So I cornered the cast backstage at Comedy Central’s Second Annual Comedy Awards (airing May 6 at 9 p.m.) to find out if weddings were in season.

“I can’t say, I can’t even give you a hint with my eyes or I will be sued for some crazy betrayal or network corporate secrets,” star Adam Scott told me, before teasing, “The finale is very exiting though. You get a lot of big answers and there are also some big questions.”

But would one of those questions be “Will you marry me?” To find out, I turned to Amy Poehler who claims that regardless of a Ben/Leslie proposal the finale has at least one Bachelor-esque moment. “A man does hand me a rose and ask me to marry him,” she said before cheekily adding, “but it’s not Ben.”

Engagements aside, it sounds like there is a lot to look forward to as Amy gushes, “I gotta tell you, these last two episodes are so exciting. Jam-packed and so thrilling. All of the characters together all the time, which is always our favorite and what makes me the most excited.”

The thing that made me the most excited came from scene-stealer — and Twitter diva — Retta. “We have one more big drinking scene at the election,” she reveals. And whether or not it will top Ron Swanson’s drunken hat dance, Retta promises that Donna’s drinking stays in check. “She keeps it together. She has to … she’s not going to mess up her car!”

Parks and Recreation airs Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.

Another New “Parks and Recreation” Sneak Peek

Check out another new sneak peek video from this week’s episode of “Parks and Recreation”!

Huffington Post Interview with Amy Poehler

Nothing could capsize the unsinkable Leslie Knope — except, maybe, losing an election.

The race between Leslie and goofy rich guy Bobby Newport (Paul Rudd) ends in the May 10 “Parks and Recreation” season finale (9:30 p.m. ET on NBC). But in this week’s episode, in order to make sure they leave no voter unconvinced, Leslie and her campaign team, in the exclusive clip below, embark on a final campaign swing through Pawnee.

Before you get to that clip, Amy Poehler, who wrote and directed last week’s hilarious debate episode, talks about Leslie’s election chances, the show’s approach to politics (which Poehler and executive producer Michael Schur also discussed in here), and whether ascending the Pawnee ladder could change the town’s most ambitious parks bureaucrat.

We started out by talking about the stirring speech that Leslie gave at the end of “The Debate,” which serves as something of a mission statement for both the candidate and the show.

That final speech that Leslie gave, was that one of the hardest things you’ve ever had to write, or was it made easier by the fact that you know her so well?
When Schur and I were talking about the script, and he said kind off-handedly, “OK, I think we probably have Leslie give a speech here during the debate and shows everybody how she really feels.” And we were both kind of laughing about it, because we were like, “Oh yeah, sure, just one of those.”

But it was a really satisfying writing challenge, because the thing I love so much about our show — second to the people that are on it and that I get to work with — is the fact that the show allows us to go big with our feelings and emotions. You get to play things real and have real feelings, and talk about themes like small towns, family, loyalty, commitment — all that stuff.

So it was kind of a dream to write it, because it felt like I’ve never written anything particularly dramatic, and it felt like I was getting to write on a drama and that was really satisfying. I wrote it separately from the episode because I just wanted to kind of try to figure out how she would approach it. I wrote it and then cut most of it, and then went back and tried to kind of underwrite it. It was a fun challenge to go back and [go], “Okay, now take out all of this stuff that seems too writerly.”

“Parks and Recreation” Sneak Peek

Tomorrow night on NBC’s Parks and Recreation – the second-to-last episode of the season! — Leslie (Amy Poehler) embarks on a bus tour to make the most of her final day of campaigning. There’s just one problem, though. (Well, aside from one of Pawnee’s most important citizens passing away.) A bad person is hellbent on assaulting her with a pie. If only there were someone smart and strong enough to neutralize this security threat… someone not entirely dissimilar to… FBI superagent Bert Macklin! Yes, the overeager alter ego of Andy (Chris Pratt) returns this week in what he calls his “greatest assignment yet,” so brace yourself for a high-octane, high-calorie adventure. You can preview a bit of Bert in the following clip, in which he assesses the perlious situation and assigns provocative code names to his colleagues.
